CAMPBELL LABELS ~ “RECIPE OF THE MONTH”

Remember, we now save the UPC bar code,  including the little Campbell’s Kid pictured at the right, on all canned products and Pepperidge Farm products.  For Prego, Pace, V-8 and V-8 Splash we need to save the lid.

Zucchini crops are here and for most will definitely be overwhelming.  Below is a casserole recipe and we’ll add a bonus recipe this month for “Poor Man’s Crab Cake.  Believe it or not, this recipe has no crab meat in it at all, but tastes wonderful.

”ZUCCHINI CASSEROLE”

Ingredients:
6 cups sliced zucchini
½ cup diced onion
1 can cream of Campbell’s Chicken Soup
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded carrots
1 pkg stuffing mix (stove-top)
½ cup melted butter

Boil zucchini and onion in salted water for 5 minutes. Drain. Combine soup, sour cream and carrots. Fold into zucchini and onions. Combine butter and stuffing mix. Cover bottom of 9x13 baking dish with 1/2 of the stuffing. Add zucchini mixture. Top with remaining stuffing. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

POOR MAN’S CRAB CAKE ~ Serves 4

2 c. zucchini, shredded
1 c. Italian bread crumbs
1/2-3/4 tbsp. Old Bay seasoning
2 eggs
1 tbsp. mustard

Mix all ingredients together ~ shape as you would a crab cake ~ saute or fry in small amount of oil.

ENJOY!  CONTINUE TO SAVE THOSE LABELS ~ THANK YOU!

WHO ARE THE UNITED METHODIST WOMEN of
MT. OLIVET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH?

We are a community of women WHO ARE:

*centered in relationship with God through Jesus Christ
*focused on ministries with women, children, and youth
*involved in missions locally and globally

*committed to inclusiveness
*pledged to provide financial support for mission through Undesignated Mission Giving
*engaged in the development and use of skills for service, leadership development, and personal growth
*encouraged to work with other organizations on issues of  mutual concern.

OUR PURPOSE
We are an organized unit of the United Methodist Women who shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A MEMBER OF UMW?

A member of UMW is one who commits herself to our *Purpose* and chooses to participate in meetings, prayer, giving, study, action, and/or service. The organization celebrates an inclusive membership and welcomes all women who want to be members.

WHO ARE MEMBERS OF UNITED METHODIST WOMEN?

Members are women like you: women of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds; employed and unemployed; women with disabilities; housewives and businesswoman; single, married, widowed, and divorced women; teen women, young woman, middle-aged women, older women; college/university women; multicultural and multiracial women committed to missions

HOW   DOES ONE BECOME A MEMBER?

All you have to do to become a member of Mt. Olivet*s UMW is to come to our meetings that we hold on the third Thursday of every month. A different member hosts the meeting each month. To find out where the meeting is being held you can either find it in the Mt. Olivet Church's Newsletter or call the Secretary-Wendy Witt.  She will be more than happy to direct you or arrange for transportation to the meeting if that is a problem for you.

WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO BECOME A MEMBER?

It’s rewarding to be involved with a fellowship of women who nurture and encourage one another in their spiritual growth. By committing to and accepting the challenge of missions you participate in life-changing experiences. Some of our most recent mission projects have been:

Blankets for the Homeless,

Franklin Graham Shoeboxes,

UMCOR Health Care Packets,

New Life for Girls,

United Methodist Home for the Children,

Mason-Dixon Food Locker Sunday,

Feed the Children,

World Hunger,

and collecting Campbell Soup labels for the Neighborhood Center.

Proceeds from our Soup and Sandwich sales and the Dinners we sponsor are collectively used for donations.

Following along the lines of spiritual growth, our current Bible study is on the book of Exodus. We also take the time to have fun. We each have a secret prayer pal program where we send encouraging notes to our secret pals throughout the year and pray for them. We discover their identity at our annual luncheon we hold in August. Meetings are always concluded with wonderful refreshments each month and always in the company of wonderful women!
